GREEN TARA INITIATION & PUJA
MAHAKALA PUJA & MILAREPA PUJA
On 10 April 2009 Friday ( full moon day and also a public holiday, Good Friday) , Ven. Shangpa Rinpoche
will be bestowing a Green Tara Initiation for the benefit of all our devotees during this year which is fraught with trouble due to the financial crisis. *A Vegetarian Diet on that day is compulsory for receivers of the initiation.
Origin
Green Tara is a well loved Yidam commonly believed to manifest
from the tears of Avalokiteshvara to fulfill his mission to liberate sentient beings. Many kalpas before, she
was a compassionate princess named Yeshe Dhawa (Gyana Changdra) . She met a Buddha called Ngadra
and developed her enlightened attitude in front of the Buddha and vowed to liberate all sentient beings.
She used all her abilities to fulfill her vow. Due to this, all the Buddhas praised and aptly gave her the
name "Tara", which means savior. She is the savior of all sentient beings.
Benefits
It is said of Green Tara that not only will she give to beings whatever they may need, but also that she is able to allay each of the major fears of beings, such as the eight or sixteen common fears of beings which include fear of robbers and thieves, fear of water, of snakes, of poison, of imprisonment, and so on, as well as all the inner fears. Whatever fears beings suffer from, whenever they would recite the twenty-one praises to Tara, or even merely recite her ten-syllable mantra, OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SVAHA, their fears have been pacified, and their needs have been fulfilled.
Om, Prostrations to the Blessed One, the Goddess Tara.
Tare, the Brave One
All fears are dispelled by Tuttare
Ture, she bestows all Benefits
Along with Svaha, I Bow.
