Benefits of Reciting the Six-Syllable Mantra
The Six-Syllable Mantra is the essence of Buddha Shakyamuni's teachings. It is also the sound manisfestation of the compassionate wisdom of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The recitation of the mantra relieves the sufferings of beings in the six realms and cuts the causes and conditions to be reborn in each of these six realms. The three days mani recitation dates coincides with Chotrul Duchen, merit-multiplying days according to the Tibetan calendar. Chotrul Duchen, also known the Butter Lamp Festival, is one of the four festivals commemorating four events in the life of the Buddha, according to Tibetan traditions. During the first two weeks of the New Year, it is believed that the Buddha displayed a miracle each day to increase the merit and devotion of future disciples. The 15th day is the Day of Miracles. During these days, it is said that the effects of positive or negative actions are multiplied 100 million times, thus practice is strongly advised. So let join us in this event in dedication for the happiness of all sentient beings.
