10th and 11th September
2009 Konchog Chidu Puja
To wish Shangpa Rinpoche long life and good
health, Karma Kagyud
Buddhist Centre is organizing 2 days of Konchog Chidu (Union of all
Jewels) puja on the 10th and 11th of September 2009, which also
includes the practice of the Buddha Amitayus,
the Buddha of Longevity. At the end of the 2nd day, Rinpoche will be
receiving the blessed longevity substances.
We welcome all devotees with well-wishes for
Rinpoche to come and join
in the recitation sessions, to wish that Rinpoche may live long and
continue to turn the wheel of Dharma and guide us in the path towards
enlightenment.
After setting up the publications fund, the
Konchog Chidu (Union of all
Jewels) sadhana was one of the first texts to be prepared by Shangpa
Rinpoche, both in English and Chinese. It is a Guru Yoga of
Padmasambhava. It is befitting then that this
text could be used during his birthday celebration. Those who have
supported this publication project have indeed gained great merit and
we rejoice and thank them for contributing their time and resources.
Many more texts are in line for being translated and updated, please
support this meaningful project.
12th September
2009 Shangpa Rinpoche's Birthday
Animal Life Liberation
Rinpoche and the lamas will be leading us in the liberation of life on
Shangpa Rinpoche's Birthday.
The merits accumulated from this meritorious deed will be dedicated to
the long life and good health of Shangpa Rinpoche and all the lineage
masters, that they will continue to lead us on the path to
enlightenment.
Mandala Offering and
Long Life Prayer for Shangpa Rinpoche
The afternoon's program will start with mandala offering to Rinpoche by
selected devotees who have been contributing to the centre, in terms of
volunteer work and
also in terms of sponsorship. The offering of the mandala symbolizes
the willingness to give everything in the universe in order to receive
teachings, vows and empowerments from the vajra master.
Subsequently, there will be recitations of the
long life prayer to Shangpa Rinpoche to request that he remains long in
this world to continue to guide us in the path towards enlightenment.
After the first three times of recitation, devotees will have the
chance to make khatag offerings to Shangpa Rinpoche. A small container
of "treasure" rice and also milk tea will be distributed to all
devotees, for offering to the Triple Gems first and then for everyone
to partake.
Birthday
Dinner
Mrs. Budiman has kindly sponsored a sit-down dinner for the night in
order to raise funds for the centre. It is not easy to maintain a
centre, with the challenges of paying monthly bills for electricity,
water, garbage disposal and copier rental, not to mention repair costs
for roofing,
air-conditioning, lights and costs involved for Dharma publication and
hosting events.
There is no fee to be paid for the dinner, please contribute as your
heart wishes. Any contribution would be much appreciated. However,
registration is strictly required and tickets are first come first
served.
During the dinner, there will also be performance by some talented
devotees
and we hope everyone will come and join us for a pleasant evening
together!
