12th May 2006 - Vesak Day Celebration

Vesak Day, 12 May 2006 (Friday) commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha. Since the Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha more than 2500 years ago, His teachings still continues to benefit many of us. On this coming Vesak day, let us recall what the Buddha said:
"Ananda, it is not by worshipping me with flowers or incense that you honour me best, but it is through your practice, through living in accordance with the Dharma, that you accord me the highest honour. Therefore, those who would follow me should train thus: 'We will live in the way of the Dharma, entering upon the proper way and walking in the Dharma' "

On this coming Vesak, the Centre has specially organised a series of programme. It is said that all virtuous actions performed on this auspicious day will be multiplied by many times, so let us come together to devote ourselves in some spiritual practice and dedicate the merits for the happiness of all sentient beings.
