UPCOMING PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: Chod, Jang Chog and Gyashi Pujas led by Dupsing Rinpoche Chod Puja The word "Chod" means to 'cut through' or to 'sever'. Thus chod is primarily a practice of symbolic self-sacrifice in order to cut through the ego. It helps us to develop empathy, campassion and unconditional love for all. Chod practice is also effective for the purification of sickness, especially for those who are disturbed by evil spirits. 4 August 2011 Thursday 10 am ~ 9.30 pm 100 Deities Jang Chog Puja 100 Deities Jang Chog is a skillful Vajrayana practice for purifying the negative karma of the deceased and guiding them from the bardo onto the path of enlightenment. This practice originates from Shakyamuni Buddha. The 100 Deities are the attributes and activities of the 5 Buddhas and their female counterparts. 5 and 6 August 2011 (Friday to Saturday) 10 am ~ 9.30 pm 7 August 2011 (Sunday) 10 am ~ 7 pm Gyashi (4 Hundred Offerings) Puja This is a puja where there are four hundred offerings to the 4 Maras in order to appease them and remove the negativities we have acquired, cure sicknesses and rid ourselves of misfortune. These 4 Maras are 1. Mara of the Son of God, 2. Mara of Defilements, 3. Mara of Death and 4. Mara of Form. These Maras represent the four types of obscurations; obscuration to knowledge and the obscurations of the five poisons, habitual tendencies and karmic causes. Participants are to pack a few strands of hair, nail clippings and a scrap of cloth worn previously. Prior to the puja, participants are to rub illnesses symbolically into a ball of dough. Please avoid the forehead and heart area. 8 August 2011 (Monday) 10 am ~ 10 pm Download the Poster for this event. Je Karma Trinley Rinpoche Program (24 to 28 Aug 2011) ?????????????
