Acharya Khenpo Ramesh was born in Kinnaur, Northern India. After receiving his primary school education, Khenpo-la left home at the age of seventeen to enter into monk-hood. He spent some years in Tashi Jong Monastery. Thereafter, Khenpo-la spent ten years furthering his studies in Sutrayana and Tantrayana Buddhism at the central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Varanasi. He graduated with a PhD in Buddhist Philosophy.

Acharya Khenpo Ramesh has a deep and strong foundation in Vajrayana Buddhism. He has also received extensive Mahamudra teachings and empowerments from various well-known Khenpos such as Kagyud Khenpo Tsultrim Gyatso. He has also received Dzogchen teachings from Khenpo Palden Sherab, in addition to many sacred teachings from other well known Khenpos and Rinpoches. Khenpo-la is very experienced in teaching the Buddha Dharma to both the Sangha and the lay followers as he travels and teaches extensively throughout Nepal and India.

Khenpo-la has held several important teaching positions at the Vikrama Shila Higher Buddhist Institute, Jangchub Choeling Monastery in Pokhara, and is the resident teacher of Kagyu Institute for Buddhist Studies in Kirtipur. These three institutes were established by Venerable Shangpa Rinpoche. Khenpo Ramesh was also the resident teacher of the famous Nyingmapa Monastery in Saranath for 3 years. In addition, Khenpo-la has taught Sanskrit as well as Buddha Dharma at the Tibetan University.

Khenpo-la is a well-known scholar of the Heart Sutra text as well as the teachings of the Madhyamika School. He has the unique ability to convey to his students the essence of the most complex and profound teachings using simple methods in an approachable manner. Khenpo Ramesh is well liked and well respected by his numerous students from many different countries. Many consider him to be an exponent on the teachings of all major schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
